Privacy policy

Last updated 5 October 2026

Usratuna is a private, invitation-only app for the Djalal family. It holds our family tree, our stories and the ways we reach one another. This page explains, in plain words, what information the app keeps, why, and who can see it.

Who runs Usratuna

Usratuna is run by Moustapha Djalal for the family. It is not a business and does not sell anything. For any question about your information, write to admin@usratuna.com.

What we keep

  • Your sign-in details. Your email address. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. That is all we receive from your Google account.
  • What you choose to add. Your name, your place in the family tree, your photo, dates, a short biography, the contact details you decide to share, and the messages, memories, photographs, video clips and comments you post.
  • Settings for your device. Your language and colour choices and, if you allow it, the link your browser gives us to send you notifications.

We do not use advertising, tracking cookies or analytics tools.

How we use it

Only to run Usratuna for the family: to sign you in, to show the family tree and directory, to deliver messages and notifications, and to send the emails the app needs, such as sign-in links and the weekly family summary. We never sell your information, and we never use it for advertising.

Who can see it

  • Only family members who have been admitted and are signed in. Nothing is public and nothing is shown to search engines.
  • Contact details are shown only to admitted family members, and only the ones you choose to share.
  • The family's administrators can see join requests, so they can confirm that a new person belongs to the family.
  • Every change to a family record shows who made it, so the family can review it, discuss it or undo it.

Information from Google

When you sign in with Google we receive only your basic profile: your name, email address and profile picture. We use it only to sign you in and to show your name and picture to the family inside the app. We do not read your Gmail, contacts, files or anything else in your Google account, and we do not share your Google information with anyone except the services listed below that run the app. Our use of information received from Google follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Services that run the app

A few trusted services store and deliver the app for us. They process information only on our behalf:

  • Supabase, for the database and sign-in
  • Vercel, which hosts the website and the app
  • Cloudflare, for the domain and the private storage of video clips
  • Resend, which delivers the app's emails
  • Google, if you choose to sign in with Google
  • Your browser's notification service (for example Google, Apple or Mozilla), if you allow notifications

How we protect it

All connections are encrypted. Access rules in the database decide what each member can see. Video clips are stored privately and opened only through short-lived links.

Keeping and deleting your information

We keep your information while you are part of Usratuna. You can change or remove what you added at any time. To close your account and delete your information, write to admin@usratuna.com and we will do it within 30 days. Family history records about other relatives may stay in the family tree, because they belong to the whole family.

Children

Children may appear in the family tree. Parents and guardians decide what is shared about their children, and can ask us to change or remove it at any time.

Changes to this page

If we change how Usratuna handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
